Bachelor of Social Work.

Through a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program, students gain the knowledge and skills necessary to provide effective social services to families, individuals, and communities, with a particular emphasis on serving oppressed or underserved populations. The curriculum is designed to impart a strong foundation in social work theory and practice, covering key areas such as human behavior, social welfare policy, and ethics. Students learn to assess the needs of clients, develop intervention strategies, and advocate for social justice and equity. The program also includes training in counseling techniques, case management, and community organizing, preparing graduates to address a wide range of social issues and challenges.

A BSW program often incorporates field placements and internships, which provide students with hands-on experience in real-world settings such as hospitals, schools, social service agencies, and non-profit organizations. These practical experiences enable students to apply their classroom learning to actual social work practice, developing critical skills in communication, empathy, and problem-solving. By focusing on the needs of vulnerable populations, BSW programs aim to equip students with the tools to make a meaningful impact in the lives of those they serve, fostering a commitment to social change and empowerment. Graduates of BSW programs are well-prepared to pursue careers in various social work fields, including child welfare, mental health, healthcare, and community development, or to continue their education with advanced social work degrees.
